Blackbird is a fast-moving four-player trick-taking card game where bidding, teamwork, trump, and timing decide every hand. Play online with real players, create private tables with friends, or practice offline against AI. Fans of Kentucky Discard style card games will feel right at home, with Blackbird's own wild card twists.
Now offline play includes Include Ones, a higher-point rule option that adds all four 1 cards. Each 1 is worth 15 points and ranks above the 14 in its own suit, giving every hand more points to chase and more reasons to bid boldly.
Play with a partner, bid for the points your team can capture, choose the trump suit, and try to reach 300 points before your opponents. Every round brings a new challenge: read the table, protect your point cards, manage the Nest, and watch for the wild Blackbird card that can change the hand in an instant.
Blackbird is easy to start, but full of strategy for players who enjoy competitive card games, partner play, and clever trick-taking decisions.
Rule Options
Classic Rules
Play the traditional Blackbird ruleset with a 41-card deck: four colored suits and the powerful Blackbird card.
Each suit has cards numbered from 5 to 14. Point cards matter most:
- Blackbird card: 20 points
- 14 cards: 10 points each
- 10 cards: 10 points each
- 5 cards: 5 points each
Each player is dealt 9 cards, and 5 cards are placed in the Nest. Players bid for the right to choose trump and exchange cards with the Nest. The highest bidder must help their team capture at least the number of points they bid. If they fail, their team loses that bid amount.
The player who wins each trick leads the next one, and the player who takes the final trick also takes the Nest. Any point cards in the Nest are added to that team's score. The first team to reach 300 points wins. If both teams pass 300 in the same round, the higher score wins.
Red One Rules
Red One is an offline rule option inspired by Rook-style and Western Kentucky card game variations. It adds the Red 30 card as the highest trump in the game. The Red 30 is worth 30 points and can beat even the Blackbird, creating tougher bids and dramatic late-hand swings.
Include Ones Rules
Include Ones is an offline rule option that adds all four 1 cards, one for each suit. Each 1 is worth 15 points and ranks above the 14 in its own suit. Players receive 10 cards each, the Nest keeps 5 cards, and the total points in the hand rise to 180.
Include Ones is great for players who like higher-scoring hands, stronger suit control, and more strategic bidding.
